In the heart of Richmond lies one of its most iconic pubs - the Richmond Club Hotel. Built in the 1800's, this humble pub has been a focal point for many a social gathering, sports spectacle or cheeky afternoon drink with mates. Over its 140 years of existence, the venue has seen refurbs and name changes, and in recent times had become a little tired and less distinguished from its counterparts than it had previously been. Our Melbourne Team were excited to work with Hospitality Group Sand Hill Road to freshen up this local institution - but not without a unique set of challenges.
Trading on one of Richmond's busiest streets, this project provided a particular set of challenges for our operations team - tram lines, overhead power and busy motor and pedestrian traffic. Our team communicated with numerous governing bodies, including Yarra Trams, CitiPower, VicRoads and Yarra City Council, to coordinate the acquisition of permits to safely, and legally carry out the works.
Given the architectural design of this commercial venue, various different height access equipment were required to enable the works to be carried out in an OH&S compliant manner. Traffic Management was carried out to ensure the safety of all pedestrian and motor traffic. Colour consultation was required to ensure the appropriate painting specification was selected. All works were overseen by a full-time project manager and foreman, to ensure that timelines were met, and no operational revenue was lost by the venue.
The final product was fantastic, with our efforts successfully rejuvenating this building. The Richmond Club Hotel now stands ostentatiously among its neighbours on Swan Street. The customer was thrilled with the end result and provided an endorsement of our works.
