Wyndham Destinations make a bold statement partnering with Higgins to upgrade their Melbourne City Hotel to great effect.

Wyndham Hotel Melbourne becomes the latest within the Wyndham Destinations' portfolio to be uplifted by Higgins Melbourne.

The challenge

Wyndham Melbourne is nestled in the heart of the CBD, providing guests with the perfect access point to the Melbourne city. The hotel is renowned for fantastic amenities. The property development team faced the challenge of bring the hotel's decor up to the same high standard while allowing the business to maintain operations during the project.

The property features 83 guest rooms and four (4) presidential suites across four (4) levels. Each room required full refurbishing, with corridors and a lobby area also in scope for non-structural upgrades. A challenge unique to hotels is the need to relist any completed rooms as soon as they are available. Consistent communication around project milestones was needed for this refurbishment project.

Solution

Higgins Melbourne was confident in their ability to manage the multi-trade refurbishment and in doing so, ensuring the hotel could confidently continue to trade while the works were being delivered. Detailed planning of trades and procurement of materials helped our team achieve project milestones on-time. The list of trades managed included:

Once trades were complete, our painting experts applied their signature craft providing a colour change in line with the interior designer's specified colour scheme. In addition to the rooms, our project management team repainted corridors, reception, and the foyer area of the hotel.

The scheduling and communication of the project were just as critical as the finish. Our onsite supervision and daily communication were complemented by weekly project-control meetings. These meetings were utilised to capture progress updates, troubleshoot any issues , and to ultimately ensure quality standards were met and the project remained on schedule.

Results

The project was delivered within the estimated timeline. Wyndham Hotel Melbourne has been refreshed with a style befitting of the city’s vibrant culture.
