Case Study: Colour scheme upgrade at Tasman Holiday Parks - Geelong

Tasman Holiday Parks wanted to rejuvenate their Geelong facility to match the standards of the other parks within
their portfolio.

Higgins Western Victoria was up for the challenge and answered the call.

The challenge

Tasman Holiday Parks recently grew its portfolio by acquiring a leisure park in the centre of Geelong. After purchasing the asset, their facility management team sought to improve the appearance and quality of the accommodation complex. Among other maintenance items, an update to the paintwork was required. Their team determined a scope of works featuring an internal and external repaint of all 39 permanent cabins. Their priority, above all else, was to have the project completed before the busy season commenced (term 3 school holidays onwards).

Tasman flagged that all the cabins could not be shut down concurrently and that the scope of works would need to prioritise maintaining occupancy. In addition, all operational hours needed to be conducted with minimal mess and closed-off areas – the contractors were to remain out of sight to the patrons. The paintwork was in a sub-optimal state, which was made worse by the faded colour scheme.

Solution

Our Western Victoria team has demonstrated experience in uplifting facilities while they remain operational. We were confident in our ability to manage the project and curated an operations plan that would tackle ‘one street’ of cabins at a time. Our scalable workforce allowed us to comply with the customer's requirements for minimising disruption and effectively moving off-site within 24 hours' notice as needed. We were transparent with the customer about our service delivery and adjusted the works schedule according to their fluctuating occupancy.

We worked closely with Haymes Paint and leveraged their expertise to determine the best paint specification for the facility, as well as a suitable new colour scheme to apply. The previous product used had left the surface in poor condition, so our team stripped the previous coatings and treated the cedar before applying the new paint.

Results

The newly selected colour scheme has been exceptional in restoring the state of the cabins. Our project was delivered within the  budgeted timeframe. Tasman Holiday Parks will be able to re-list all their cabins ahead of their peak busy season.
