St Mary's College Maryborough is a Catholic School for students in grades 7-12, dedicated to supporting their academic and social growth, empowering them to fulfil their dreams and ambitions.  

In 2021, our Wide Bay team commenced a painting maintenance plan to create uniformity in the paintwork's condition and colour scheme throughout the school. 

The challenge

The Business Manager faced a common challenge - aging buildings with different colour schemes that could affect the school's appeal to potential staff and students. Newer buildings were constructed in a different colour scheme over the years, which made the age of the older buildings more noticeable. Apart from the inconsistent colours, the school's paintwork was in disrepair.

Addressing the issue required a significant volume of work and a comprehensive plan that would ensure complete rectification and client satisfaction.

Solution

Our local team proposed a maintenance painting plan to rejuvenate the condition of the buildings, while creating uniformity in the colour scheme throughout the school. The plan featured staged repaints delivered over the summer holiday period.

We have scaled up our workforce to perform a significant volume of operational hours while the school is vacant, leveraging high-risk EWPs, ropes access and groundworks. The full internal and external repainting project has prioritised high-traffic areas of the school.

In addition to partnering with the school on painting maintenance, we have sponsored their TedX event in its inaugural two years, and are due to participate in a school-based fundraiser for under-privileged children.

Results

Over the initial three years of the painting plan, we have successfully revitalised several key areas including the Cath McCauley building, Middle School lockers and toilet areas, the Brother Cotter building, Pastoral Care Centre, and the Sister Mary Byrne building. The Business Manager has expressed high praise for the quality of our workmanship throughout this stage of the plan.
