Case Study: New branding delivered across several painting projects

Mentone Girls’ Grammar School provides a stimulating environment for learning for all its students, from Junior School right through to Year 12.

The School’s new branding is being standardised across all the facilities, with Higgins completing painting projects in separate stages during term breaks.

The challenge

The facilities at Mentone Girls’ Grammar School are maintained to a high standard, and although the paintwork is in decent condition, the school’s management team determined that a rebrand including standardisation of colours was desired. The school determined that a multitude of painting projects would need to be delivered across several years to create uniformity among the school’s buildings.

The key focus for the school was finding a contractor that could deliver consistency across multiple projects and a significant volume of work, ranging from painting to non-structural building upgrades. Though engaging several different contractors to perform said works was feasible, the school’s preference was to find a sole contractor to manage their building’s needs.

Solution

Our Melbourne team was engaged to help the school carry out its rebrand after demonstrating our experience in delivering operational excellence across both painting and building services works. Our initial works focused on the internal repainting of the Early Learning Centre, Cobbalanna Building (Senior Year 12 building), and Rose Court – the neighbouring administration buildings. Most recently, our operations team returned to modernise the Junior School.

Positioned adjacent to a key thoroughfare subjected to considerable traffic, the Junior School presented as dated, with the school wishing for it to be repainted in their ‘new brand’. We determined building works followed by an external repaint would help create the environment the school desired.

Our experts identified redundant louvres and removed, them before sealing with render and spraying in silver. Access was managed with 45 ft knuckle booms and scissor lifts, with tricky conditions given the undulating surface at the foot of the building’s exterior. Our operatives completed a significant volume of operational hours over the Christmas Break and were able to completely refresh the building's external facades while uplifting the interior including corridors to complete the works.

Results

Our team of six (6) operatives completed over 600 operational hours across the latest Christmas Holiday break in time for the staff, students and parents to admire at the next term's commencement. We look forward to returning to the school to help create more stimulating environments for learning.
