After lengthy discussions and multiple on-site meetings, the body corporate committee awarded our Townsville team the repainting project, confident in our acumen after citing other successful projects we’d delivered in Mackay.
The Captains Corner Apartments presented in mediocre condition, however, its committee identified a range of building repairs and remedial issues that required attention before any painting could take place. Multiple downpipes and brackets needed to be replaced as well as air conditioning ducts across the multi-tower complex.
The key difficulty with operational delivery was the management of the project in and among an apartment complex with occupants. Before the project commenced, we presented a thorough operations plan that mitigated disruption and risk to all persons on-site. This included a comprehensive access methodology, which included the use of spider booms, scissor booms, and rope access.
After completing a range of repairs to the building’s exterior, works across the two towers of Captains Corner could commence. We provided digital overlays to assist the Body Corporate Committee in deciding on new feature colours. Once the colour scheme was selected, our operations team began applying premium-grade paints to uplift the appearance of the facility. We water blasted external surfaces before priming and applying Taubmans Armawall Satin.
Site meetings and consistent communication throughout the project enabled the Body Corporate to remain abreast of the works schedule. Fliers and notices were given to occupants of the complex ensuring they were also familiar with the works ahead. Exclusion zones and site signage were pertinent in keeping pedestrians safe throughout the repainting project.
Significant flooding plagued Mackay for weeks at a time throughout the repaint – providing a challenge for our delivery team. We scaled up our workforce after the flooding had subsided to make up for the lost time.
While the inclement weather threatened to railroad the project, we are delighted to have achieved a great result for the customer, who has provided praise for our work across the repainting component of our painting maintenance plan at the facility. Our team of operatives rejuvenated the apartment complex over four months. We have returned to providing internal and external painting maintenance.
