Having purchased several of the units contained within this complex, Mercer & Cooper were interested in strengthening their investment by performing upgrade works. Our Wide Bay branch was engaged to take on this exciting project.
Located on the picturesque shoreline of Torquay, Hervey Bay, this apartment complex required an overhaul in several parts of the building. The upgrades were needed to improve the return-on-investment of the majority-owners and all works were required to be completed within a six week timeframe. The colour scheme had become dated, and required some intervention.
In addition to these challenges, a significant volume of balustrading needed to be two-packed, with over 900 lineal metres requiring attention. This was confounded by difficult-to-reach areas also needing new coats, with significant access issues presenting throughout the project.
The challenges were overcome through consistent communication with the customer and savvy project management. In order to access difficult sections of the building, we utilised scaffolding, EWP's and abseil-painters. This allowed us to complete the works in an OH&S compliant manner.
An entirely new colour scheme was designed, moving away from the mix of mustard and maroon, towards a sleek, white finish. Within our solution, we also applied two pack to number of balustrades.
The customer was very happy with the result, signing off the job without any issues or rectification works required. The Higgins team completed the project within the required time frame, meaning no operational revenue was lost. Our project management capability also impressed the customer. Higgins were able to facilitate and manage other trades so all issues at the property were remedied concurrently rather than in different stages of works.
